WebSep 1, 1993 · Abstract Electrochemical reduction of natural graphite was carried out in 1 M ethylene carbonate (EC)/1,2‐dimethoxyethane (DME) (1:1 by volume) solution at 30°C. Natural graphite was reduced stepwise to (golden yellow in color). The staging phenomenon was observed by x‐ray diffraction (XRD). WebGraphite intercalation compounds were subjected to thermal treatment to attain exfoliation of the nanofiller. The exfoliation process was studied by means of thermal analysis. The nanofillers and nanocomposites were characterized by means of X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis.
